Photo Flash: First Look at Stephanie Regina and More in OEDIPUS REX xx/xy
What happens when Oedipus is a woman and Jocasta is a man? Driven by the belief that what was traditional in 429 BC is radical today, The Faux-Real Theatre Company searches beyond the Freudian notions of "boy loves mom," and re-examines Oedipus the King with modern eyes and ancient techniques, uncovering the fearful truths and the (occasionally comedic) grotesque ironies that Sophocles presented audiences 2000 years prior to the birth of psychology.
Scheduled March 7th through March 24th, OEDIPUS REX xx/xy will have a performing schedule of Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sunday matinees at 2:30pm at La MaMa's First Floor Theatre (74A East 4th Street). OEDIPUS REX xx/xy runs 75 minutes with no intermission. Tickets are $18 general admission, $13 students and seniors, and can be purchased by calling 212-475-7710 or online at www.LaMaMa.org.
