Ewa Kasprzyk, one of Poland's most accomplished screen and theatre actresses, will bring to life one of Pedro Almodovar's liveliest characters in the one-woman play Patty Dipusa, at this year's UNITED SOLO THEATRE FESTIVAL.
The performance will take place on Friday November 4th, 2011, at 7:30 PM, in Theatre ROW, 410 West 42nd Street, New York City.Ewa Kasprzyk is a professionally trained actress with a highly successful career that has spanned over 25 years and has brought her to star and play very diverse and challenging roles in Polish theater, film and television mediums. She has won Best Actress awards at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia and the International Television Festival in Venice.Patty Diphusa was the heroine of Pedro Almodovar's feature columns for La Luna Weekly, published in Madrid in the 1980's. The character, an international porn star, was originally intended to be the filmmaker's alter ego. Almodovar fashioned her to be a more obscene but less pathetic impersonation of Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's.The solo one act play Patty Diphusa has enjoyed great success since its' premiere in 2004 and continues to draw cheers from crowds around Poland.
