Paisley in Blue Productions is pleased to announce the premiere of VANYA, their original adaptation of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA. Directed by Onur Karaoglu, the production is created and performed by an ensemble of former Columbia University MFA graduates. VANYA is a highly physical adaptation utilizing live original music to explore the desperate melancholy of love present in Chekhov's original text. The production will run from April 14 - April 30, 2011 at 2 Great Jones in the heart of the downtown Manhattan.

VANYA is an original adaptation of Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA, rooted in dynamic storytelling
through physical and textual improvisation incorporating both composed and improvised live
music. The production will be staged in a storefront in downtown Manhattan. Originally
workshopped by the same Columbia University MFA ensemble three year ago, VANYA culminates in a graceful and visceral story surrounding the notion of love and the lack thereof.

"This version of Vanya dives deeper within the themes of love, tragedy and the value of living a
meaningful existence." explains director Onur Karaoglu. "Simultaneously, the presentation
becomes aware its own theatrical nature. It travels through every possible means of theatrical
story-telling to keep the audience's attention refreshed throughout the play."
