Off-Off Broadway Play LOVE IS DEAD! to Become a Movie
Locked in the Attic Productions and NYEH Entertainment are following up their first [and highly successful] filmmaking collaboration, "catch 22: based on the unwritten story by seanie sugrue", with a new dark and dirty "sitcom" called "Love Is Dead!" The film's source material is playwright Seanie Sugrue's stage play by the same name, opening June 1 at the legendary 13th Street Repertory Theatre in New York.
Too dark and twisted for television, this sitcom style group of shorts will be presented as a feature film. NYEH's Josh Folan adapted the play for the screen and will direct the film.
LOVE IS DEAD! is an envelope-pushing series of three vignettes:
THE APPLE AND THE TREE! drags through the meager life of Trevor. A young man burdened with the seemingly impossible task of convincing his relations that he has been raped, by two women;
TWO MINUTE KENNETH! follows a seemingly incompatible couple through the rapid escalation of the imminent melancholy that is, a modern day relationship;
MY GOLDFISH LOVE ME BUT I HATE YOUR GUTS! ambles recklessly through a sinuous account of the life and misery of Maggie, an unhinged prostitute looking for retribution.
"Love Is Dead!" the stage play is running 6/1 through 6/14 in New York, tickets are available at http://www.lockedintheatticproductions.com/loveisdead/
