New York Neo-Classical Ensemble Presents TWELTH NIGHT Jan. 8-24, 2009

By:

NEW YORK NEO-CLASSICAL ENSEMBLE (Stephen Stout, Artistic Director, BILL GRIFFIN, Managing Director) is pleased to announce its production of "TWELFTH NIGHT" by William Shakespeare, directed by Stephen Stout. The production opens on Thursday, January 8 at 8:00 pm at THE KIRK THEATRE on Theatre Row. Performances continue Friday, January 9 and Saturday, January 10, and Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 pm, through Saturday, January 24. Tickets are $18 ($15 for students) and can be purchased visiting www.ticketcentral.com. The KIRK THEATRE, TheatreRow Studios, Inc., is located at 410 W. 42nd Street, between 9th Avenue and Dyer.

NYNeo-Classical Ensemble's TWELFTH NIGHT reflects the joy and doubt of a young generation dealing with a world of uncertainty. Shakespeare's comedy about the lengths we go to reach those we love is combined with a live band, playing a fresh indie rock score that sounds like it was downloaded from iTunes this morning.

Featured in the cast are MATTHEW ROI BERGER (13P's CRAWL, FADE TO WHITE), CORINNE DONLY (World Premiere of Adam Rapp's BINGO WITH THE INDIANS), RICHARD DOUGLASS, BILL GRIFFIN, DALIYA KARNOFSKY, CALE KRISE, MELISSA LUSK, GRACE MCLEAN, HUBERT POINT-DUJOUR, JR., MATT SADEWITZ, Robbie Collier SUBLETT (GONE MISSING, The Civilians) and BRANDON URANOWITZ.

Stephen Stout (Director) directed MIDSUMMER and TWELFTH NIGHT for NYNEO. As an actor, he appeared as Navarre in LOVE'S LABOURS LOST and as Posthumus in CYMBELINE at the Baryshnikov Arts Center. Recent credits: THE FOOTAGE (The Flea), Mark Antony in JULIUS CAESAR (Aquila Theatre Company), Yossarian in CATCH 22 (US National Tour), Sebastian in TWELFTH NIGHT (Off-Broadway, Germany), Romeo, Benedick (Lincoln Center Institute), COMEDY OF ERRORS (Germany), Laertes, Hamlet (Skirball Center). Film: "Mystery Team" (Sundance '09), "Checkout" (Winner, 2006 HBO Comedy Arts Festival Aspen). Shorts with The Onion News Network, Montreal Comedy Festival and Derrickcomedy.com. BFA: NYU.

The design team includes DUNCAN CUTLER (Sound Design), ELI KAPLAN-WILDMANN (Set Design), JESSICA PABST (Costume Design) and CARL WIEMANN (Lighting Design). TRACI THOMAS is the choreographer. Original score by MATTHEW roi BERGER. ANDREW ZACHARY COHEN is the stage manager.

The NEW YORK NEO-CLASSICAL ENSEMBLE is a not-for-profit theater company devoted to creating defiantly theatrical, textually dynamic productions of classic plays. It consists of a diverse group of multidisciplinary artists united by a common process, and aims to revive the belief that the spoken word - made physical, immediate and active - can change the world around us. www.newyorkneo.org
