New Revival of Leslye Headland's BACHELORETTE To Transform Walkerspace
By: Nora Dominick
Carly J. Bauer Productions and Mark Brystowski in association with the Untitled Theatre Collective has announced that it will stage a revival of Leslye Headland's pitch-black comedy BACHELORETTE - and in doing so, transform elements of Walkerspace into a hedonistic hotel. BACHELORETTE made its world premiere at Second Stage Uptown and subsequently inspired the hit film produced by Will Ferrell & Adam McKay. It will run Thursday, September 8 through Saturday, September 17 at Walkerspace, 46 Walker St. in Manhattan. Hannah T. Wolff will direct. www.bacheloretteplay.com
BACHELORETTE made its world premiere at Second Stage in 2010. In 2012, the film version premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Headland wrote and directed the film which co-starred Kirsten Dunst, Rebel Wilson, Lizzy Caplan and Isla Fisher. The film was subsequently sold to The Weinstein Company, and went on to become one of the most successful VOD releases to date. BACHELORETTE goes full force, no breaks, no conscience. Every audience member will, to their dismay, recognize themselves in the men and women on stage. When narcissistic mean girls Gena, Katie and Regan descend upon a former friend's wedding night, it is primetime for misbehavior. Leslye Headland's Bachelorette explores the incredulous inner and outer lives of three over-medicated, toxic women seeking validation by any means. In the early morning hours of Becky's wedding day friendships will be tested, lines will be cut, messes will be made, and no one makes it out unscathed.
