New Light Theater Project presents THE OEDIPUS PROJECT in various parks throughout Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn, today, September 5-15. FREE to the public. For specific locations and times, visit newlighttheaterproject.com.
The Oedipus Project is a ninety minute adaptation with music of Sophocles' Theban Trilogy: Oedipus The King, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone. This production will take place in various parks throughout Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn using modern dress and an original score (an inventive combination of folk and Gregorian chants) to shed a different light on the classic stories. The cast includes Michael Aguirre, Amanda Berry, Corrie Blissit, Brittany Costa, Jay Felix, Maria Gilhooley, Abbi Hawk, Sean Lounsbury, Matthew John Martin, AnDrew Murphy, Max Nussbaum, Yuriy Pavlish, Elena Skopetos, and Bonnie White. With direction by Artistic Director Sarah Norris, original music composed by Music Supervisor Kyle C. Norris, Stage Management by Molly Goodwin, and Costume Design by Oscar F. Limon.
