MYRONIC! Magic Revue Set for FringeNYC, 8/11-26

Magic's most bewildering duo is making a rare East Coast appearance in the confounding revue Myronic!

For more than a decade Myron the Magnificent and the Lovely Vera made magic at Rudy's Off-Strip Casino. Yet after an unfortunate incident with their Flaming-Double-Sword-Vivisection the pair was asked to take a hiatus from their longtime stage. So Myron and Vera are taking the opportunity to bring their show to New York where it will appear at The Players Theatre as part of The New York International Fringe Festival.

"This could be the start of something big for us," said Myron. "I wish we weren't always on the fringe," said Vera. "Just once I'd like to be in the middle of something."

Myronic! is filled with miraculous moments of magic including numerous illusions that hark to the days of vaudeville. For example, Myron performs the rarely-revived Sympathetic Silks, a spooky illusion with silk scarves that was at one time performed by Harry Houdini. He also performs effects that were passed down from previous generations of his magic family. Myron's grandfather Mervyn the Magnificent was a star of vaudeville and his father Marvin the Magnificent was a magic pioneer in the early days of television.

Myron shares the stage with the Lovely Vera, his longtime assistant. "After all these years together Vera and I are like a well-oiled machine," says Myron. "Ewww, gross," said Vera.

Myronic!, starring Myron the Magnificent and the Lovely Vera, will run at The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street, Greenwich Village as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. The schedule is: Saturday, August 11, 7:45 p.m.; Sunday, August 12, 5 p.m.; Wednesday, August 15, 9:30 p.m.; Tuesday, August 21, 7 p.m.; and Sunday, August 26, noon.
