Luis Salgado Directs, Choreographs New Musical ZUCCOTTI PARK, Running 2/26-3/1 at NYC Venus/Adonis Festival

By: Jan. 27, 2015
Luis Salgado, who most recently was involved in the developmental lab for the new Gloria Estefan Musical On your Feet, has signed on as director/choreographer of the NYC World Premier of Zuccotti Park. Book and lyrics by Catherine Hurd and music composed by Vatrena King, with musical direction by Joshua Coyne. This new musical about the 'Human Side of Economics' will have 4 performances and close the 2015 Venus/Adonis Festival.

After eight years at war, William Cooper takes leave to visit childhood friend, Kate, in NYC. She is now beautiful, spirited, and passionate.... about the Occupy Movement. As his feelings for Kate grow, Cooper also connects with her protester friends, learns their stories, and takes a good hard look at what it means to be an American.

In August 2014 Salgado won the Best Director Award at the Thespis Festival for his direction of Song of Solomon.

"This is another great opportunity to explore and develop new work. What I love about these festivals is that we all want to make art and see it evolve. This developmental stage provides writers with the opportunity to see their work with new eyes. In the end they are able to walk away with a clearer vision of how to further their show with more strength and confidence." Said Salgado, the C.E.O of Salgado Productions who is Producing the musical with 20 actors from NYC.
