Loft227 Opens 4th Season with THE GIANTS Tonight
Loft227 and Executive Producer Robin Sokoloff (THE LOST, SPOTLIGHT LIVE) launch a 4th season of environmental theatre in their Chelsea performance venue. Previous programming at Loft227 includes the beloved musical DANI GIRL (Exit, Pursued by a Bear), CHICK FLICK: THE MUSICAL (Daryl Roth), and LIVE FROM THE LOFT (EST Youngblood). Loft227's 2016 Season opens with THE GIANTS, PARTS ONE & TWO by Matthew Jellison, and will include THE LAST REQUEST OF CHARLES BEAUXNER, an immersive murder mystery by Matt Cox (PUFFS, KAPOW-I GOGO).
Returning to Loft227 after his work on DANI GIRL, Isaac Klein will direct the opening show of Loft227's 2016 season, THE GIANTS, PARTS ONE & TWO, running tonight, February 26th, through March 9th, 2016 in the city...
...in the city, there's a skyscraper to the stars, and in the skyscraper there are people. And sometimes, they fall in love, and often they have giant dreams and face giant problems. Then, one day an actual giant - as tall as the skyscraper - shows up in the city and begins to tear it apart. The world premiere of the first two plays of a series, THE GIANTS, PARTS ONE & TWO is a stunning and imaginative excursion into love, death, dreams, stars, and real estate.
Featuring: Ava Eisenson* (THE DREARY COAST), Matthew Jellison (TINY BUBBLES), Ashley Austin Morris* (LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE; DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES), and Allan K. Washington* (A MAN'S A MAN, THE GOLDEN DRUM YEAR)
The creative team includes Projection Designer Brad Peterson (FIRST DATE, FISH IN THE DARK), Scenic and Lighting Designer Steven Royal (Helen Hayes Award: BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL), Illustration/Graphic Designer David Litman, Sound Designer Derek Knoderer, Costume Designer Heather McDevitt Barton, Fight Director Joe Isenberg (Helen Hayes Award: THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY), and Producer Anna Rooney. The show will be stage managed by Corinne Brenner (THE DREARY COAST).
THE GIANTS, PARTS ONE & TWO opens on February 26th and runs for two weeks, playing at 8pm on Fridays, Sundays, and Wednesdays at Loft227 in Chelsea (227 W. 29th Street). Tickets are $18 and can be purchased at thegiants.splashthat.com. For more information, email anna@loft227.com.
