Joe's Pub Presents THE BARE BONES OF OE ICONIS AND MICHAEL R. JACKSON, 2/20

By:

On February 20, musical theater writers Joe Iconis and Michael R. Jackson present a stripped down night of their incendiary tunes. No rock band, no cast of thousands- just the boys and a piano and their music. A couple of special guest stars (including the raw Molly Hager and the ragged Jason "SweetTooth" Williams) will join the boys for a concert that is sure to shock, bother, offend, and titillate.

The evening is produced by Jennifer Ashley Tepper, and will also feature Brandon Uranowitz, Lucas Papaelias, Adam Wiggins, Blake Whyte and Rachel Peters.

Joe Iconis is currently working on the new musical, BLOODSONG OF LOVE: THE ROCK ‘N' ROLL SPAGHETTI WESTERN, which will open at Ars Nova in April 2010. He is the recipient of an Ed Kleban Award, a Daryl Roth Award, and a Jonathan Larson Award. His theatrical rock concert, THINGS TO RUIN, has played two critically- acclaimed engagements, at The Zipper Theater and at Second Stage Theatre. His garage rock musical, THE BLACK SUITS, played SPF at the Public Theater, his three-part rock musical REWRITE played Urban Stages and the recent Goodspeed Festival, and his family rock musical for TheaterWorksUSA, THE PLANT THAT ATE DIRTY SOCKS, completed a summer run at the Lortel Theater and a national tour. In addition to his theater work, Joe has played numerous sold-out gigs with his ROCK AND ROLL JAMBOREE show, a sort of musical theater/ rock'n'roll collective made up his (very very talented!) friends. Joe frequently performs at Joe's Pub, The Laurie Beechman Theater, Ars Nova, and Sardi's.

MICHAEL R. Jackson holds a BFA in playwriting from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts' Dramatic Writing Program and an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from the Tisch School's Musical Theatre Writing Program. As a playwright, Michael has seen his work performed at the Developing Artists' Theatre Company, the New Professional Theatre, Dixon Place, the Henry Street Settlement and the Flea Theatre. As a songwriter, he has presented work at The Barrington Stage Company, The Laurie Beechman Theater, The Triad, Ars Nova, and Joe's Pub. His musical Only Children, with composer Rachel Peters completed a sold-out run at NYU, courtesy of the Tisch School of the Arts Undergraduate Drama Department at NYU. He is currently working on the book, music, and lyrics to a musical entitled A Strange Loop with director Maria Goyanes.
