RECOLORATION PROCLAMATION, presented in Partnership with Black Documentary Collective

This performance features John Sims with a video introduction by Paul D. Miller, a.k.a. DJ Spooky.

Description:

John Sims will present as a multimedia event the making of his film, Recoloration Proclamation, as a series of shorts quilted together documenting the artist's response to the Confederate flag. The film will explore his controversial work as well as the various public responses, and the complexity and counter-intuitive dynamics that frame the confederate flag around the issues of races, visual terrorism/pride and Southern Heritage.

The screening of Recoloration Proclamation serves our community by presenting accounts of historical or social events that are relevant and little known in the mainstream media.

This is Sims' first time presenting his work at Harlem Stage.
