HANDTRUCK LOBSTER PRESENTS Five Things A Webcomic in 3D as part of the Comic Book Theater Festival June 2-July 1 @ The Brick

Written by Jillian Tully
Directed by Amy Overman

Performances: June 4th @ 3PM, June 5th @ 6:30pm and June 10th @ 7pm

What would you do if a stranger made you-a disenchanted former dreamer-promise to do five terrifying things in the coming year? What would you do if you were a scientific genius who also happens to be a calico cat? In the spirit of Calvin and Hobbes and Girls with Slingshots, Five Things is a webcomic brought to life, taking on such day-to-day subjects as online dating, Fairy Dragmothers, open-mic nights, tap dancing, opposable thumbs and the pursuit of happiness.

Five Things will feature Sarah Eliana Bisman*, Rob Brown*, Mim Granahan*, Cedric Jones and Jillian Tully

Five Things will run June 4th @ 3PM, June 5th @ 6:30pm and June 10th @ 7pm as part of The Comic Book Theater Festival at The Brick (575 Metropolitan Avenue between Union Avenue and Lorimer Street, Brooklyn). Tickets ($15) may be purchased online at www.bricktheater.com or by calling 866-811-4111.

Jillian Tully is a singer-songwriter, actress, costumer and writer who lives in a tiny orange room in Brooklyn. Inspired by her very real (and most likely mechanical genius) cat's story, Five Things marks Jillian's debut as a solo playwright. Other writing credits include The Soundtrack Series for July 2010, and Chemistry, which she co-wrote with Danny Bowes for The Brick's Too Soon Festival. Onstage, she has appeared in Trav S.D.'s Kitsch at Theater For the New City, Hair (Sheila - Count Basie Theatre, NJ; City Theater Company, DE), Pippin (Catherine - Playhouse 22, NJ), plus several regional productions and commercial voiceovers in English and Spanish. She is part of the ongoing development process of the musical Bar Code, written by Mike Blaxill, Debbie Andrews and Ted Lange, which debuted at Dixon Place in 2006. Jillian has also been part of the sci-fi Civil War musical Futurity by Brooklyn-based band The Lisps, appearing in the Joe's Pub, Louisville and HERE Arts Center productions, as well as concert versions. Her band, rainy day assembly, has performed at Pianos, Kenny's Castaways and other notable venues, including the NYC subway. As a costumer, she has worked with many respected companies, such as Transport Group, New World Stages, Prospect Theater Company, 13P, and TACT.

Amy Overman is the Artistic Director of the Dysfunctional Theatre Company and has been performing & producing with them since 2001. Her directing credits include Dulcitius, which she also adapted from the writings of the 10th century nun Hrosvitha for Dysfunctional's A Cavalcade of Curiosities and Trifles for A Voluminous Evening of Brevity. Amy is one of the authors and the producer of a The Dysfunctional Guide to Home Perfection, Marital Bliss and Passionate Hot Romance, which was a winner of the Audience Choice & Sold Out Show Awards for the 2009 FRIGID New York Festival. NYC acting credits include numerous Dysfunctional shows, as well as Spacemen from Space! and Blood on the Cat's Neck at The Brick, Clue - Live On Stage (Flying Blind Productions) and a performance piece on knitting and S&M which she created and performed for Camp SummerCamp at PS 122. Amy has a BFA in Acting from Syracuse University.
