Robert Intile, Jr. and Alina Gutiérrez are proud to present How My Mother Died of Cancer, and Other Bedtime Stories by Chris Kelly. After opening to sold-out crowds at the Robert Moss Theater and earning acclaimed reviews, this production has been selected for an extended run as part of the FringeNYC Encore Series.

The play, inspired by Kelly's real-life loss of his mother and including elements of his own experience, reflects humorously and sometimes uncomfortably on the effects of death on a family. Structured as a play within a play, it depicts a group of loved ones trying to cope with a matriarch's absence, each other's presence, and the complications that ensue when we try to tell competing versions of the same life story. Part tragedy, part comedy, and part eulogy, the piece strives to take the audience on a revealing and personal journey through diagnosis, treatment, funeral, and everything after.

Theatre is Easy calls it "a very funny, deeply tender work." MusicOMH.com brands the show "a must-see," citing that "the genius of Kelly's play is its ability to hold an audience assuredly in the palm of its hand."

The cast will include Mike Boland* (set to appear in 2010 West Side Story Tour), Josh Hemphill*, Jim deProphetis, Dylan Kammerer, Elizabeth Romanski, Brianna Tyson and Sharon Wyse. The production is directed by Laura Moss (Best Director, 2009 Boston International Film Festival - Rising Up: The Story of the Zombie Civil Rights Movement) with scenic design by Kacie Hultgren (Finian's Rainbow, Lend Me A Tenor).

Robert Intile, Jr. and Alina Gutiérrez are a New York City based team. Current projects include Trails the musical (2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival, direction by Jen Bender). Past credits include Sing for The Cure: A Benefit (Don't Tell Mama) and Merrily Merrily Merrily (2010 Midtown InterNational Theatre Festival).

The Dreamscape Theatre is a New York City-based organization committed to the development of young and emerging voices in the New York City independent theater world. Founded in 2002 by Brad Raimondo and Gerritt Turner, Dreamscape has produced more than a dozen projects to date, including two original pieces. The New York Times praised their recent production of In Fields Where They Lay for its "smart and effective direction" and "first-rate cast."
