HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE GARDAI Plays FRIGID New York, Now thru 3/8

How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Gardai is a new play that explores the identity crisis sparked by a horrific encounter with the Garda National Immigration Bureau of Ireland. In the resulting sea of bureaucratic confusion, one woman, Lili, finds more questions than answers about who she is and where she belongs.

Lili examines the deeper meaning behind her whirlwind experience of becoming an immigrant and the desire to find something meaningful in a deeply dehumanizing process. Charming, poignant, and truthful this is the story of one free spirited traveler, discovering the threat imposed by too many borders.

In the play that Cuban artist Florencio Gelabert called "40 minutes of intense reality, turned into art," Lili explores immigration in all its forms. From Ireland to her native New Mexico, she attempts to reconcile her political ideals, lust for adventure, and the "no" stamped in her passport.

Sunglasses After Dark Productions is proud to present this play as part of the Frigid New York Festival. Tickets are $10 or $6 with a valid Student I.D. and can be purchased through SmartTix.
