Brooklyn-based theater and media company, The Glass Contraption, has assembled a diverse line up of bands, comedians, comic dancers, filmmakers and variety performers for The Triumphs and Disasters of Human Existence Presented to You, the good people of Brooklyn and the surrounding boroughs!, an evening of comedy, music, theater, film and "new vaudeville", celebrating the highest highs and lowest lows of human experience.

Emceed by comedian/performer, Drae Campbell (Nick Jones' Straight Up, Vampire!), the night will feature the musical stylings of NY-based banjo driven folk rock band, Tall Tall Trees (with singer/songwriter Mike Savino, guitarist Kyle Sanna, bassist Benjamin Campbell, and eccentric percussionist Mathias Kunzli - www.talltalltrees.com) and fresh off of summer tours opening for Bob Dylan, The Wiyos (www.thewiyos.com). Featuring front-man Michael Farkas, The Wiyos are renowned for their vintage sound and vaudevillian stage antics.

The night will also highlight clown-inspired performances by The Glass Contraption (www.glasscontraption.org); an inspirational "sermon" and love advice from Love Doctor #9 (played by comedian, Jason Quarles); a series of short comic films by award-winning video artist, Shannon Plumb (www.shannonplumb.com); a Commedia performance piece directed by Christopher Bayes (39 Steps on Broadway - www.christopherbayes.com); a world-premiere screening of a new short film created and performed by The Glass Contraption and directed by award-winning filmmaker, Gina Hirsch (You Move Me), and more.

The evening's entertainment will take place Sunday, October 3rd, 2010 at the fabulous Jalopy Theatre (www.jalopy.biz) at 315 Columbia Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn, an eclectic venue known for featuring some of the best in old-timey music and performance. A red-carpet ceremony is planned in celebration of the world-premiere of The Glass Contraption's new film, which was made on location at the beautiful and historic Jalopy Theatre. While old-timey formal attire is not required, it is enthusiastically encouraged. Expect cigarette girls dispensing lollipops and popcorn, flashbulbs and a big finale. Triumph and Disaster, the evening's trusty stewards, will be on hand throughout the evening to celebrate your big accomplishments and to cleanse and purge your of any horrible mishaps.

Tickets are $15 via PayPal at www.glasscontraption.org or for purchase the night of the event at the door (cash only). Drinks will be available at Jalopy's bar. Red-carpet arrivals begin at 7:30pm. The show starts promptly at 8pm.
