Esteban R. Alvarez III And Broadway Bound Theatre Festival Presents JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR

Broadway Bound Theatre Festival will be presenting the world premiere of JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR, the latest play from Esteban R. Alvarez III, on Wednesday July 31, 2019 at 5pm, at the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row. JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR will be directed by Cate Cammarata (THE ASSIGNMENT, MY LIFE IS A MUSICAL), and features Danny Bryck, Rory Kulz, and Debra Cardona (ON YOUR FEET, MARY POPPINS, GUYS AND DOLLS, MY FAIR LADY US Tours).

JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR tells the story of Robert and his Abuela. When Robert finds out that his abuela is dying, he does the most reasonable thing he could possibly imagine ... he kidnaps her. While he does so in an effort to help her get better, Robert must also learn how to deal with grief, depression, and self-acceptance before it is too late.

Cate Cammarata is a producer, director, freelance dramaturg specializing in the development of new plays and musicals. She is also the Literary Manager at Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) and the Associate Artistic Director of Rhymes Over Beats Hip Hop Theater Collective. Cate has produced Off-Broadway with THE ASSIGNMENT (co-produced with Houses on the Moon Theater Company) and MY FATHER'S DAUGHTER with Ursula Rucker. Regionally she produced MY LIFE IS A MUSICAL at Bay Street Theater and has produced and directed numerous Showcase and Festival productions and readings in NYC and Chicago. Cate holds a MFA in Dramaturgy from Stony Brook University and a BFA in Directing from Syracuse University. Her most recent book Contemporary Monologues for a New Theater was listed as one of the top ten theater books by BroadwayDirect in 2018. CreateTheater.com.

Esteban R. Alvarez III is a Cuban-American playwright, actor, and lawyer that currently lives in Gainesville, FL. JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR is Esteban's third original work. Esteban's first show TURNING TABLES was called "a fast-paced farce with ripostes delivered in machine-gun fashion." While his second show INS & OUTS was "a two-act play in staccato bursts that begins with the silly and ends with the sublime."
