Dramatists Guild Holds Reading for MISS HUMANITY, 12/15

By:

It has been announced that "Miss Humanity," the new musical comedy by New York composer/lyricist Daniel Lincoln and screenwriter Michael DiGaetano, will be presented in a public reading at The Dramatists Guild in Times Square, Manhattan.  The reading will star Brian Charles Rooney (B'Way: The ThreePenny Opera), Zachary Clause (Naked Boys Singing), Jody Cole Wood (All Shook Up), and Rebecca Johnson (White Christmas).

Lincoln and DiGaetano have each received rave reviews for past musical comedies, including DiGaetano's hilarious "'Gay No More' Telethon" and "Sorority Queen in a Mobile Home," and Lincoln's "Queen Bea: A Soapsical!" (written with New York playwright Gena Oppenheim) which was produced earlier this year in a series of sold-out concerts starring the cast of ABC's One Life to Live.  Outside of theater, Michael DiGaetano is best known for his work on the TV series Get Smart (1995 remake), Flesh 'n' Blood, and the film Houseguest.  As a nightlife performer, Daniel Lincoln appears regularly in Manhattan in The Broadway Brouhaha (Therapy Bar NYC), The Stonewall Sing-Along (The Stonewall Inn), and The Girly Show (Bartini Ultralounge).

According to press notes, "Miss Humanity" recounts the tale of beauty queen turned Hollywood superstar, Carolyn Rogers, who - feeling as if she has not fulfilled her duties as Miss Humanity - tells her super agent Devin Levin that she will not make another movie until he finds her a war to end in an effort to bring world peace...just like she promised at the pageant.  Thrown into the mix are a fame-hungry actor who aids Devin, and a villainous reporter hell-bent on exposing them all.  Though this marks the first collaboration between Lincoln and DiGaetano, their previous history as comedic writers makes this creative union seem like a perfect fit.

"Miss Humanity" will be presented Wednesday, December 15th at noon.  The reading will be held at The Dramatists Guild, 1501 Broadway (between West 43rd and West 44th Streets in Times Square), on the seventh floor.  The event is free, open to the public, and will include a round-table discussion with the cast and creatives after the reading.
