On Sunday, Sunday June 27th, 4:30 PM, Church of St. Mark 1417 Union Street, Brooklyn, NY, Rejoicensemble! presents "The 25th Anniversary Season Finale Featuring the Music of M. Roger Holland II." The host of the event is the star of the CBS television series Law and Order: SVU, Tamara Tunie.

What began in 1984 as a routine telephone call to contract an ad hoc group of singers for the movie Beat Street has evolved into an emerging arts institution and vocal group known as Rejoicensemble! Since its inception, the ensemble has not waivered from its commitment of presenting and insuring people in the metropolitan New York City area, in particular, and throughout the world, can hear and savor the rich spiritual music of the African Diaspora.

Whether at the AARP Center in the Bronx or a Celebration of the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., or at The Riverside Church in Manhattan for Sacred Jazz 2 concert featuring St. Mark's most distinguished alumna, Grammy Award winner, Dianne Reeves, Rejoicensemble! can be counted on to provide a first class entertaining and educational experience.

As the highlight of many community events, the ensemble commissions and performs new works of contemporary African American composers. For this very special concert, Rejoicensemble with the assistance of a New York State Council on the Arts grant has commissioned and will perform the World Premiere of "The Call," a new work by M. Roger Holland II. In addition, the Riverside Inspirational Choir, The H.W. Morris Singers, Our Lady of Charity Choir and The St. Mark's Choir will join in this all Holland program.

Mr. Holland's other commissions include "Down By the River" for The Negro Spiritual Scholarship Foundation; "The Tribulation Suite" for Essence of Joy, Penn State; and "The Present (This Is Now)" for the Hatboro-Horsham High School Choir. Currently, he is Artist-in-Residence at Union Theological Seminary where he is also the Director of the Union Theological Seminary Gospel Choir.

From 2000-2009 he served as Minister of Worship and Christian Arts at Calvary Baptist Church, Jamaica, NY. Because of Mr. Holland's prominence and Rejoicensemble's dedication, St. Mark's hopes to obtain individuals representing all aspects of the New York artistic, civic and corporate community to be in attendance.
