COULD HAVE BEEN: THE MUSICAL to Play NYSummerFest

Could Have Been: The Musical- a new show written and directed by Rita Posillico- is set to perform it's second production with an entirely new cast and crew at New York Theater's NYSummerFest August 18th at 8:30pm and 19th at 1pm at the Hudson Guild Theatre. Following the tale of a young woman named Daisy, the show highlights the importance of empowering women, being independent and self-love.

Having just moved to NYC from North Carolina, Daisy (played by Chelsea Best) attempts to leave behind her destructive past of alcoholism and her boyfriend, Adam (played by Raz Ayer) in hopes of becoming an actress. Though she books a job at a crazy theater company in New York, run by the theater guru Madame (played by Rita Posillico), she discovers that leaving her home-town is not as easy as she thought and the charm of the lead, John (played by Michael Lloret) might lead her right back to the path of, "playing it safe."

With majority of the cast and crew being female, Rita wanted not only a strong female presence for the production but also a unified ensemble- musicians and actors work together as a Chorus throughout the show to keep the audience alert and the story moving. "The cast, pit and crew all serve as important aspects of this story. Working together and creating a space for creative freedom is something that I wanted for everyone, being that this is a new work," says Rita, "I am so thankful for everyone involved and hope to continue to tell this story after our run while inspiring other female composers and writers to get out there and never give up!"

For those who want to see a fresh take on the female's point of view and leave the theater feeling renewed, go see Could Have Been this Saturday and Sunday! Tickets are available at the box office or online at https://m.bpt.me/event/3466881.
