The Bleecker Street Theatre presents The Rap Guide to Evolution, starring Baba Brinkman, from May 4 to May 8.

The Rap Guide to Evolution synthesizes key concepts from evolutionary biology into a series of rap songs and rap poems, equal parts hip-hop, stand up comedy, and teaching tool.

Baba Brinkman is a rap artist, published poet, actor, and hip-hop theatre playwright. His hit shows "The Rap Canterbury Tales" and "The Rebel Cell" (with MC Dizraeli) have received awards and critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and around the world.

Baba also runs the record label Lit Fuse Records, which represents Vancouver soul singer Aaron Nazrul, UK hip-hop collective Mud Sun, as well as his own music. Baba has released five solo albums to date, including three full length LPs and two EPs, as well as various singles and group projects. His newest solo album "Apocalyptic Utopian Dreams in the Western Wilderness" is due out in May 2009.

He tours regularly with his hip-hop, spoken word, and theatre performances.
