BAX kicks off its 20TH BIRTHDAY SEASON with a WELCOME TO THE SEASON BRUNCH on Sunday, September 12, 2010.

BAX will introduce its 2010/11 Artists In Residence (AIR) and Space Grant Recipients, announce the 2010/11 Performance Season, open the new photo exhibit, The Residency Project, by the award winning photo documentarian, Angela Jimenez, and unveil its new front door signage.

In attendance will be past and present AIR and Space Grantees, 20th Season Guest Curators (all former AIR), and numerous performing artists who have walked through our red doors throughout BAX's 20 year history.

Also in attendance will be local political dignitaries, many of our current and previous season sponsors, and other neighborhood merchants.

The celebration will include cupcakes, champagne/mimosas, and assorted pastries. This event is being sponsored by Sweet Cheeks Brooklyn, our Season Sponsors, and local merchants.

Attendees will have the opportunity to record their memories and feelings about BAX on video. Selected clips will be published on BAX's website as part of a year-long exhibit commemorating 20 years of arts and artists in progress.

ABOUT THE 2010/11 ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE
AND SPACE GRANTEES:

Ten years ago, the ARTIST IN RESIDENCE (AIR) program grew from two artists to four. It is only fitting that the program is growing again for our
20th season.

We are very excited to announce that for our 20th Season, we have grown the AIR program by adding two new residency positions. Along side two Dance AIR and two Theater AIR, two Research Fellows will be working on research projects that do not have an immediate performance component.

ABOUT THE PHOTO EXHIBIT:

THE RESIDENCY PROJECT is the culmination of a year-long project where the celebrated photographer, Angela Jimenez, followed the artistic lives of BAX's 2009/10 Artists In Residence. This photo documentary showcases candid glimpses into not-often-seen moments in the process of making and showing performance work and the people who make it.

ABOUT THE 2010/11 SEASON CURATORS:

For its 20th Season, BAX has invited former (and current) Artists In Residence to curate the PERFORMANCE & DISCUSSION SERIES. BAX is excited to turn over the curatorial reins to Dean Moss, Judith Sloan, Fernando Maneca, Luciana Achugar and Jennie MaryTai Liu. Additionally, Shannon Hummel will continue to curate the Upstart Festival as she has for the past two years.

The Artists-In-Residence Program and the Space Grant Program are supported, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts and NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.

BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange is a professional community arts center located in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
