Starring and co-written by Eyal Sherf, How Jerry Herman Got Me Through Analysis, a real-time therapy session infused by the music and lyrics of legendary songwriter Jerry Herman, premieres September 23 at Don't Tell Mama in Manhattan.

Directed by Austin Pendleton, the show will also play the midtown cabaret venue on September 30.

In How Jerry Herman Got Me Through Analysis, Sherf (Luft Gangster; the Drama Desk nominated The Pirates of Penzance) and "therapist"-at-piano Stephen Borsuk draw from the vast catalogue of the Kennedy Center Honoree to illuminate highs, low and (hopefully!) breakthroughs in the session. Inspiration is drawn from both hits such as Hello Dolly, Mame and La Cage Aux Folles, as well as lesser known material (yet proving just as "helpful"!).

Stephen Borsuk is also the musical director of the show. Parody lyrics were written by Matthew Hardy.

Don't Tell Mama is located at 343 W 46th Street. There is an $8 cover charge for the show along with a two drink minimum. Reservations for the September 23rd can be made here, and for the 30th here. Tickets may also be reserved by calling 212-757-0788 after 4PM.
