The Mirror Repertory Company, under the direction of Sabra Jones McAteer, Founder/Producing Artistic Director, will present The Young Mirror in a concert reading of Jenny Lyn Bader's play "Out of Mind" directed by Julie Kramer, on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, 8PM, at the Julia Miles Theater (424 West 55th St.). The reading is a one-night only benefit for The Young Mirror.

The evening is billed as 6 short plays...with some of the people missing. Relationships are never quite what they seem to be - especially in this play cycle about people who are invisible, missing, or barely there! The characters search for the perfect date, baby-sit under mysterious circumstances, meet their idols, and recover from heartbreak... but nothing goes as planned. These tender comedies celebrate love, revel in human connection, and offer a glimpse of the unseen: Don't believe your eyes.

Featured performers include Zina Anaplioti, Bhavana De Montebello, Lauren Blumenfeld, Sas Goldberg, Anthony De Fazio, Max Jenkins, Rocco Natale,Nicole Pacent, Kate Taney, Devon Jackson, Alysia Reiner, Max Shulman and Dan Pfau. Claire Moyer will serve as assistant director, and Angie Hesterman will serve as production stage manager.

Jenny Lyn Bader is the new resident playwright for The Young Mirror. Her bio is contained below: Jenny Lyn Bader's play None of the Above (Lion Theatre, Theatre Row) is published in Under 30: Plays for a New Generation (Vintage) and an acting edition is forthcoming from Dramatists Play Service. Her play Manhattan Casanova won the Edith Oliver Award for comedy (EuGene O'Neill Center) and premiered at Hudson Stage Company. A Harvard graduate, she has been a Lark Playwriting Fellow and a frequent contributor to the New York Times "Week in Review."

JULIE KRAMER directed Jenny Lyn Bader's None of the Above at The Lion Theater and at New Georges, Out of Mind at NYU/Strasberg and You Should Have Brought Your Mink for The Dawn Powell Festival. Recent credits include Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy With a (Somewhat) Happy Ending at New Georges and in a workshop production at The Public Theater; Mother Load Off-Broadway and the national tour; and BabyLove at 45 Bleecker, the Uno Festival in Victoria, Canada and The Mesto Zensk Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

This "Young Mirror" has been restructured with recent graduates of the Tisch School of the Arts added to selected Northwestern graduate, all of whom are trained teaching artists in Arts in Ed, and working professionals headed by Nicole Pacent as Associate Artistic Director. We have founded a summer residency in Greensboro, Vermont (two plays in
2007 and seven in 2008) associated with the State College system, which will provide job training for Young Mirror and unique experiences for NYC inner-city school children in future. In addition to this, in 2008, The Mirror Repertory Company was awarded a land grant in the North East Kingdom of Vermont. This land will serve as a future home to the theatre company's "all green" replica of the Old Globe Theatre, with both indoor and outdoor capacity for year-long theatrical presentations. We have presented two Young Mirror Seasons in repertory at the Arclight (2005) and at St. Clements (2006).

This event is one night only! Tuesday, May 5th (6pm reception; 8pm reading). The Julia Miles Theater, 424 West 55th Street (between 9th & 10 Avenues). Suggested donations are set at: $15 for performance only, $50 for performance, priority seating, and reception
All donations are fully tax deductible. Reservations are strongly recommended for both ticket levels and required for reception: call 212-427-7393.
