Beginning January 20th, 2011 The Director by Nancy Hasty will begin performances at The American Theatre of Actors (314 West 54). Nutshell Productions will present The Director, directed by Richard Hymes-Esposito. The show will open on Thursday, January 27th and run through February 19th.

Peter (The Director) pushes 5 vulnerable and out of work artists to their breaking points. How much of his manipulation and denegration will they take, in order to gain his esteem? The Director poses its audience with the question -- just how far will you go in order to be considered "accomplished"?

Cast includes: Rocky Friedman Vargas, Brittany Lynn Kriger, Seth Norris, Greg Engbrecht, Janice Amano, and Charles C.Casano
Creative team: Meagan Miller (Set, Costume, and Prop Design). Roy T. Chang (Light and Sound Design).

Nancy Hasty's plays have been produced in New York, internationally, regionally and on tour. Her play, The Director, starring John Shea, ran off-Broadway for over six months to critical and popular acclaim, and won "Recommended Play" status from The New York Times. Florida Girls, Nancy's one-woman show, toured several states after it's off-Broadway run and she continues to perform it around the country. Her most recent play, "Lawnchairs," was produced this season at Scranton's Electric Theatre Company. In Pennsylvania, she has been playwright-in-residence and taught both acting and writing at area colleges and schools. Currently, she is directing her fifth production within the Lackawanna County Prison, where she works in partnership with visual artist, Elizabeth Parry-Faist. Nancy is the 2009 First Place winner for the Jerry Kaufman Playwriting Award in New York; a top finalist at the Eugene O'Neill Playwrights Festival, first place winner in the James Dickey Poetry Competition and this year‘s "Artist of the Year" in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Nancy's work has been published by Smith & Krauss and Broadway Play Publishing. She is a member of The Dramatists Guild, Actors Equity Association, and is represented by the Abrams Agency, both in New York and Los Angeles.

RICHARD HYMES-ESPOSITO (director) was born and raised in New York City. Graduate of The High School of Performing Arts (Drama Major), English Major at Earlham College, located in Richmond Indiana. Member of "The Actors Project NYC". Has done many student films and off-off Broadway Productions in New York City. Writer, Producer and Principal in This Isn't Paradise. Attended many acting schools in NYC, to Caymicheal Pattent Studios to Bruce Ornsteins' acting class (among others).

Performance schedule:
Thursday through Saturday at 8pm;
Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 5pm
The American Theatre of Actors is located at 314 West 54th street 4th floor.
Tickets are 25 dollars for 8pm shows, and 15 dollars for 2pm and 5pm shows
