THE FANTASTICKS Welcomes Back Betsy Morgan as 'Luisa' 12/22

Betsy Morgan, who recently performed the role of Ariel in Broadway's The Little Mermaid, will join the cast of the Off Broadway revival of The Fantasticks as Luisa on Monday, December 22, 2008. She replaces Margaret Anne Florence, who will play her final performance on Wednesday, December 17.

Morgan comes to The Fantasticks directly from the Pioneer Theater Company's production of The Light in the Piazza, where she played Clara. Her New York and workshop credits include The Little Mermaid and High Fidelity on Broadway, The Addams Family with Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth, Prairie, Leap of Faith, Memphis and Bernarda Alba at Lincoln Center. She performed the role of Ali in the national tour of Mamma Mia! Television credits include memorable appearances as a mermaid on HBO's Flight of the Conchords and a singing nurse on ABC's Cupid. She recently appeared as Curly's Wife in Of Mice and Men at the Westport Country Playhouse.

The Fantasticks is a captivating and simple romantic comedy about a boy and girl who fall in and out of love at the hands of their meddling fathers. The audience uses its imagination to follow the narrator, El Gallo, as he creates a world of moonlight and magic until the boy and girl find their way back to one other. The score, which includes the hit songs "Try To Remember," "They Were You" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain," is as timeless as the story itself.

Having played a record-breaking 17,162 performances in its original run at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village, The Fantasticks is now playing in the heart of Times Square at The Snapple Theater Center, located at 210 West 50th Street at Broadway.

Morgan joins a company that includes Lewis Cleale (Broadway's Monty Python's Spamalot, Amour, Once Upon A Mattress), recent Amazing Race winner Nick Spangler, No Country for Old Men's Gene Jones, John Thomas Waite (title role in Broadway's Amadeus), Tom Flagg (Broadway's Will Rogers Follies, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Oklahoma), Richard Roland (Broadway's Scarlet Pimpernel, Follies, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Steve Routman (The Keen Company's The Conscientious Objector, Awake and Sing! at Arena Stage), Michael Nostrand, (A&E's Emmy Award-winning Peter Pan, national tours of Jelly's Last Jam, The Mystery of Edwin Drood,) Jordan Nichols (Tulsa in Gypsy at Westchester Broadway) and Evy Ortiz.

The Fantasticks performance schedule is as follows: Mondays at 8PM, Wednesdays at 2PM, Thursdays and Fridays at 8PM, Saturdays at 2PM & 8PM, and Sundays at 3PM & 7:15PM.
