TACT/The Actors Company Theatre will celebrate the success of its 2010/11 season and honor the accomplishments of Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara -"Stiller & Meara" - one of the country's most renowned and recognizable partnerships, at its annual spring gala on Monday, May 9th at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). The celebratory evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. TACT Co-Artistic Director and company member Simon Jones will serve as master of ceremonies and introduce the evening's entertainment set to commence at 8:30 p.m.
TACT company members Mary Bacon, Todd Gearhart, Jeffrey C. Hawkins, Ron McClary, Mackenzie Meehan and Scott Schafer, as well as Broadway performers Ann Hampton Callaway (Swing) and Liz Callaway (Baby, Cats), Meredith Patterson (42nd Street, White Christmas), Lee Roy Reams (42nd Street, The Producers), - and some surprise guests - will provide the evening's entertainment, including a special tribute to the honored couple. Larry Goldberg will serve as the evening's musical director. Co-Artistic Director Scott Alan Evans will direct the evening which will include a tribute to TACT founding Company member Larry Keith who died on July 17, 2010.
For nearly 60 years, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara have been a part of every aspect of show business as writers, comedians, radio and television performers, recording artists, and actors in film and television, As individuals, each has amassed an impressive resume and delivered indelible performances, but above all, as partners in both their professional and personal lives, they continue to exemplify all that TACT honors and celebrates. During the gala celebration, TACT will bestow upon these two staggeringly talented, hilarious, generous, and civic-minded performers the coveted Order of the TACT Empire (OTE) naming Mr. Stiller "Sir Jerry" and Ms. Meara "Dame Anne" (joining distinguished Dames Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury and Sir Sam Waterston).
