This holiday season, come take a hip trip with the indie pop-rock band GrooveLily as they spread some holiday warmth on cold winter nights performing their critically acclaimed musical, Striking 12 at The Zipper Factory (336 West 37th Street).  Striking 12 returns to New York City for four performances only, capping off an eight-city holiday tour, following last year's critically acclaimed limited Off-Broadway engagement.

Striking 12 will be performed at The Zipper Factory on:
Wednesday, December 27 at 8PM
Thursday, December 28 at 8PM
Friday, December 29 at 8PM
Monday, December 31 at 8PM

"Combining pop-rock, musical comedy and old-fashioned uplift with a healthy dose of 21st-century skepticism, Striking 12 is the story of a Grumpy Guy who decides to avoid the hectic, loveless world on New Year's Eve, until he's visited by an incandescent salesgirl with the promise to chase away his winter doldrums," explain press notes.

Striking 12 is written by Brendan Milburn (book, music and lyrics), Tony Award winner Rachel Sheinkin (book and lyrics) and Valerie Vigoda (book, music and lyrics). The score features songs such as "Visions in the Matchlight," "Give the Drummer Some," "Caution to the Wind" and "Screwed-Up People Make Great Art."

The New York City trio GrooveLily – featuring band members Gene Lewin (drums/vocals), Brendan Milburn (keyboards/ vocals) and Valerie Vigoda (electric violin/vocals) – crosses the boundaries laid down by words like rock, folk, jazz and pop. With intelligent, original songs and no shortage of wit, GrooveLily connects lush musical textures and soaring vocals to make a new music that's all their own.

Vigoda and Milburn are the winners of a 2006 Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Award for Excellence in Writing for the Theater.  Striking 12 was nominated for a 2007 Lucille Lortel Award For Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical.

The live cast recording of Striking 12 was released in 2004 on the PS Classics label at www.psclassics.com. For more information, please visit www.groovelily.com or thezipperfactory.com.

Tickets for Striking 12 are $35 and are available now by Phone through Ovation Tix at 212-352-3101 or online at www.thezipperfactory.com.
