Sound Bites 2014 Winners Announced; Full List!

Theatre Now New York's second annual Sound Bites Festival of New Musicals and Musical Excerpts was presented December 8th at the 47th Street Theatre.

Ten ten-minute musicals were showcased in front of an enthusiastic audience of over 250 people as well as a panel of industry judges. An award ceremony took place at the after party at Hurley's Saloon.

Below are the winners:

Best Actor
Sam De Røest- What's Your Wish

Best Actress
Desireé Rodriguez- Cookie Soiree: a sweet new musical short

Best Direction
Benjamin Viertel- Grindr the Musical

Best Music
Thicket and Thistle- What's Your Wish

Best Lyrics
Kevin Hammonds- The Answering Machine

Audience Choice Award for Best Musical
Cookie Soiree: a sweet new musical short
Book, lyrics, and co-direction by Justin Anthony Long, music by Garrit Guadan, concept and co-direction by Jonathan Lee, choreography by Jelani Remi, music direction by Andrew Wheeler Long

Best Musical
The Answering Machine

Theatre Now New York is a non-profit organization that facilitates the creation and development of new theatrical works as well as the re-imagining of previously produced known titles and the reinterpretation of classic works through readings, workshops and work-in-progress presentations.

Sound Bites 2014 featured an awesome mix of musicals including Pellets, Cherries, and Lies: The Pac-Man Story, Grindr the Musical, Dust, Take Me America, The Boy, the King, and the Flower, AVAC Memories, gilgamesh & the mosquito, The Answering Macine, What's Your Wish, and Cookie Soiree: a sweet new musical short
