On Friday night at the Off-Broadway comedy Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man, Anneliese van der Pol became very ill about 30 minutes before showtime. After calling every actress who has played the role in the past, the play's writer and producer Matt Murphy had no choice but to make his Off-Broadway debut in the show. Scroll down for photos!

Murphy said, "After calling all of the actresses who have played the role before, and finding that none of them were available to come in right away, I did what any good author/producer of his play would do in order to save the performance -- I made my Off-Broadway debut in the role of 'Robyn', with script in hand. We offered a refund to anyone who wanted it, which only six people accepted. The rest of the audience stayed, I bought the whole house a round from the bar, and it ended up being one of the rowdiest crowds we've had so far!"

Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man, the hit comedy written by Matt Murphy, based on the best-selling book by Dan Anderson and Maggie Berman, welcomes comedian and YouTube star Michael Buckley ("What The Buck?") and television and stage actress Anneliese van der Pol ("That's So Raven", Beauty and the Beast) as Dan and Robyn this summer at The 777 Theatre (777 Eighth Avenue, between 47th and 48th Streets).

Now in its second smash year Off-Broadway, Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man takes the audience on a hilarious and wild ride where no topic is taboo and the insider 'tips' come straight from the source: a gay man.
