Nick Adams to Take Part in Broadway Dreams Foundation/ArtsBridge Scholarship Selection

Broadway dreams will come true for one talented musical theatre enthusiast this summer when The Broadway Dreams Foundation and ArtsBridge award a three-week joint scholarship for intensive performing arts training. Scholarship applicants will be reviewed by top arts professionals from both organizations as well as Nick Adams, star of Broadway's Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

The joint scholarship has a value of $5,000 and will include full tuition to The Broadway Dreams Foundation's week-long "Express Yourself" 2012 Summer Intensive at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts July 30 through August 5, 2012 and two weeks at the elite ArtsBridge Summer 2012 program in New York City, August 5 through August 17, 2012. The recipient will also receive free housing for the duration of each program.

"ArtsBridge and The Broadway Dreams Foundation are unique programs that offer incomparable opportunities, knowledge and training to aspiring artists," said Nick Adams. "I am thrilled to be working with these two organizations to offer one talented young performer an incredible opportunity in the form of a scholarship for three weeks of superior arts training."

The scholarship is open to students age 16 and up. Applicants must submit a brief application online and a video of themselves performing two contrasting songs (32 bars each) from the musical theatre and/or rock repertoire and 90 seconds of any style dance that demonstrates technique and musicality. Candidates will be reviewed by BDF Founder and Executive Director Annette Tanner, ArtsBridge Founder Halley Shefler and Broadway star Nick Adams. Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 18, 2012. A scholarship recipient will be named by Friday, June 1, 2012.

Nick Adams currently appears as "Adam / Felicia" in the Broadway production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. He was nominated for the 2011 Astaire Award for Best Male Dancer and won two Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards for "Favorite Breakthrough Performance" and "Favorite Diva Performance." He was also honored by the American Theater Hall of Fame with a fellowship for his performance in Priscilla. He originated the role of "Angelique" in the Tony Award winning 2010 revival of La Cage aux Folles.
