Abingdon Theatre Company - which has produced more than 79 new American plays in its 20-year history - concludes its 2012-2013 Season with the New York premiere of THE GOOD BOY by Michael Bonnabel, set to begin previews April 26, prior to its official press opening May 5, at Abingdon Theatre Company's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Darin Anthony directs. Off-Off Broadway performances run through May 19.

THE GOOD BOY is the humorous and heartwarming tale of Michael Bonnabel's struggle to gain independence from his large, loving and complicated family, led by deaf parents. Told in sign, speech and song, Bonnabel explores the weight of the adult responsibilities he faced as a young boy, as well as his yearning to bond with his emotionally distant father.

THE GOOD BOY features set design by John Burton; lighting design by John Eckert; costume design by Sherry Linnell; and sound design by Joe Slowinski. Deidre Works is Production Stage Manager.

Michael Bonnabel is a Los Angeles-based performance artist with a wide range of theater, film and TV credits. Bonnabel's film appearances include the comedy/heist cult film Richard Shepard's "The Linguini Incident" with Marlee Matlin and David Bowie. Theater credits include Philip Littell's NO MIRACLE: A CONSOLATION at Playwright's Arena and the ADA Best Revival winning signed and spoken production of Edward Albee's THE ZOO STORY at the Actor's Workout Studio. He co-starred in Robert Prior's colorful and highly praised adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, PROJECT: WONDERLAND, and in the long-running, sold-out production of Kathy Bates's THE MANOR at Greystone Mansion.

THE GOOD BOY, which premiered at The Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles, marks Bonnabel's playwriting debut.

Darin Anthony is a resident director and literary manager of The Syzygy Theatre Group where he has directed MY THING OF LOVE and TALLEY'S FOLLY. Other directing credits include the West Coast premiere of SMUDGE by Rachel Axler ("Parks and Recreation"); the world premieres of Richard Martin's LONDON'S SCARS (Odyssey Theatre) and Ann Noble's SIDHE (Road Theatre Company), LA premiere of BACH AT LEIPZIG (Odyssey Theatre) and the West Coast premiere of US DRAG which earned 7 LA Weekly nominations.

THE GOOD BOY runs April 26-May 19: Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm; Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm; and Sundays at 2pm (with the following exception: Sunday, May 5 at 5pm) at Abingdon Theatre Company (312 West 36th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues, ).
