MISS ABIGAIL Begins Previews, 10/7

Theater producer Ken Davenport announced today that Manuel Herrera has been cast to co-star alongside actress Eve Plumb in the New York City premiere of Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating, & Marriage! (www.MissAbigailsGuide.com). The open-ended engagement will begin on Thursday, October 7, 2010, with opening night set for Sunday, October 24, 2010, at the Downstairs Cabaret Theater at Sofia's (221 West 46th Street, next to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre).
Manuel Herrera will play Miss Abigail's right-hand man, Paco. Last week, it was announced that Eve Plumb, TV's famed Jan Brady, will be making her New York theatrical debut in the starring role of Miss Abigail.
Manuel has been featured in Broadway's Legally Blonde (Padamadan/Nikos), Sweet Charity (Herman cover), Wicked (Chistery) and The Music Man (Tommy Djilas) and in the Off-Broadway show The Seven (Eteoclus and First Man). His film roles include Sex and the City 2 (Sergio) and he has appeared in commercials for Mohegan Sun, Joe Boxer, Winterfresh Gum, Mervyns and Optimum Online.
Ken Davenport is a Broadway and Off-Broadway producer. Recent Broadway productions include Oleanna starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles, Speed-the-Plow starring Raul Esparza, Will Ferrell's You're Welcome America, Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury, and 13. Ken is the only independent producer to have had three shows running simultaneously Off-Broadway - Altar Boyz, The Awesome 80s Prom and My First Time. He was recently featured on a national commercial for Apple's iPhone, named one of Crain's "Forty Under 40" in 2008, and was dubbed the "P.T. Barnum of Off-Broadway" by The New York Times. Ken's company recently released an iPhone app called At The Booth, which gives a listing of available shows at the famed TKTS booth in Times Square. At The Booth has been featured on Entertainment Weekly's Must List, and called "Ingenious! The best thing to happen to New York theater since, well, the introduction of the TKTS booth!" He has written articles for Forbes, Mashable, Imedia and others. Combined, Ken's productions have grossed more than $100 million worldwide and are being produced internationally in over 25 countries including Germany, Mexico, France, and Korea. On Broadway, Sarah Saltzberg played Logainne Schwartzandgrubenairre for two years in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She created and developed her character in C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E (upon which Spelling Bee is based), which she co-produced at the Theatorium in NYC, and appeared in both Barrington Stage productions. She most recently appeared in Fat Camp (NYMF), and has appeared off-Broadway in Junie B. Jones (Lortel Theatre), her one-woman show Dear Diary (Ars Nova), as well as throughout NYC in long-form improv comedy with the Upright Citizen's Brigade.
