LIVE BROADCAST To Be Presented At 2009 NYC Fringe Festival Beginning 8/15

Live Broadcast, a play by John William Schiffbauer, will be presented at the 13th Annual New York International Fringe Festival, a production of The Present Company. Erica Ruff will produce the presentation, which will be directed by Melissa Attebery. The cast will feature Andrea Day, Kyle Knauf, Amanda Brooke Lerner, and John William Schiffbauer. Live Broadcast was previously work-shopped as part of the Manhattan Repertory Theatre's Fall Play Festival in October 2008.

Live Broadcast examines the relationship between Hollywood, politics, and the media. When a young conservative movie star appears on a prime time talk show he plunges his carefully orchestrated career into jeopardy.

Performances are Saturday, August 15th at 6:30PM; Monday, August 17th at 8:45PM; Thursday, August 20th at 3:00PM; Friday, August 21st at 8:45PM; and Sunday, August 23rd at 12:00PM. Each of the five performances will take place at The New School for Drama Theater, 151 Bank Street.

Melissa Attebery (Director) began her career in Los Angeles in television development and production, where she held positions at Paramount, Viacom and Granada Entertainment before moving to the New York stage, where she focuses on the development of new work by emerging writers. She assistant-directed for Tina Howe at the 24 Hour Plays on Broadway, and she directed the award-winning comedy Larry Gets The Call by Matt Casarino. She has been a script evaluator for the Atlantic Theater Company and for New York Theatre Workshop and holds both a B.A. in Dramatic Art and Film Studies from UC Santa Barbara, and an M.F.A. in Directing from The Actors Studio Drama School. She is an Associate Member of the SSDC, and a member of The Actors Studio Playwright/Director Workshop. She is a resident director at Emerging Artists Theatre, where she also serves as the Directors' Company Manager.

Erica Ruff (Producer) is currently pursuing her M.F.A. in Theatre Management and Producing at Columbia University. She recently graduated from the University of Michigan where she worked extensively with their student-run musical theatre program, MUSKET. She has interned at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Roundabout Theatre Company, Nina Lannan Associates, and SpotCo. Erica has produced at the Laurie Beechman Theatre and Lincoln Center's Bruno Walter Auditorium. In addition to producing her first Fringe show, she is also working on a live CD for songwriter Bobby Cronin, and the 2009 NYMF musical The Cure.

Andrea Day (Madeline) has acted in New York in The Long Christmas Ride Home (Red Fern Theatre); Macbeth (American Globe Theater); The Cherry Orchard (Columbia University); and Vampire Cowboy's Saloon Series. Her Regional credits include Pennsylvania Centre Stage, California Shakespeare Theater, Berkeley Rep, Napa Valley Shakespeare Festival, Sonoma County Rep, and The Twelfth Night Project, Ashland, OR. She received her M.F.A. from Penn State.

Kyle Knauf (Jack) was last featured in the 2008 New York Fringe Festival, performing in the play Not Dark Yet. Other Theater credits include: Replikas of Apocalypsis Cum Figuris & The Constant Prince (The Underground Zero Festival), Opus De Amort (Barishnikov Arts Center), Woyzeck with Daniel Irizary (Mabou Mines), New York Classical Theater's Love's Labours Lost, Classic Stage Company's Young Company productions of both Tartuffe and Scapin, and The Flea Theater's Obie winning production of Benten Kozo as Benten. Other projects include Fete de la Nuit, by Charles Mee (Columbia Stages), 365NYC Final Presentation- Suzan Lori Parks (Ars Nova) at the Public, I-Claudius (Theater Askew), and various independent films. Kyle is a graduate of Columbia University's M.F.A. acting program.

Amanda Brooke Lerner (Jane) credits include: a promo for HBO's True Blood, an untitled TV comedy pilot, a national commercial for Bloomingdales, the TV pilot: The Love Judge starring Judge Karen, and 6 thesis films & projects for NYFA and NYU. In July, she played two roles in the International CringeFest 2009. Amanda holds a B.F.A. in Acting from Rutgers, under the direction of William Esper.

Kate Micari (Production Stage Manager) is a recent graduate from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. She graduated with a degree in theater. Kate is also one of the founding members of The People's Shakespeare Project in Lancaster, PA, and the founder of the Children's Summer Theater Program in Somers, CT. She has been a featured singer on several children's recordings, and was nominated for the American College Theater Festival in stage management.
