John Leguizamo, last seen in the ill-fated Broadway revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo, is returning to his downtown roots with a new one man project, 'WORK IN PROGRESS' which he'll debut at the Barrow Street Theatre beginning February 27th. 'WORK IN PROGRESS' will play through March 11th, 2009.

Lequizamo describes his new project on the Barrow Street website as, " Yo, wat up? Wat's crackin? Me that's what. I'm retooling, reworking, redoing a brand new show. Help, me help you get some anti recession. And anti depression hilarity. Come on down and be a part of history in the making. Watch me trip up and mess up and you can twitter it to your friends, " I saw john f*&#k up. Ha! ha!" I'm not mad atcha. No haters allowed. Nor hating allowed. Help me come up with a title for my new show. Come on down and represent. Watch me put down. Cause you know I can".

John Leguizamo made his Broadway debut in his critically acclaimed Tony-nominated Freak (subsequently recorded for HBO, directed by Spike Lee) and followed that with two separate, equally successful runs of Sexaholix. He also wrote and performed in the Drama Desk Award-winning Spic-O-Rama. His achievements in Hollywood are no less astonishing. He created, wrote and starred in the 1995 Latino-oriented variety show "House of Buggin" on FOX. His movie career exploded with Carlito's Way, followed by blockbusters such as Executive Decision, The Fan, Moulin Rouge and Ice Age, to name a few. He was recently seen in the films Nothing Like the Holidays and Righteous Kill (with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro).

The Barrow Street Theatre will also be home to the acclaimed David Cromer production of 'Thornton Wilder's Our Town. Performances will begin on February 17th with an official opening night set for Thursday, February 26th, 7:30 p.m.

Barrow Street Theatre is located at 27 Barrow Street at 7th Avenue South in the heart of Greenwich Village. Nearby subway stops are the 1 at Christopher Street (walk 1 block South on 7th Avenue to Barrow) and the A, C, E, B, D, F and V at West 4th (walk West on 4th Street, left on Barrow).
