Director Ivo van Hove is set to oversee a production of Lillian Hellman's THE LITTLE FOXES in 2010. The production is expected to star Broadway's Elizabeth Marvel, most recently of the revival of Top Girls. THE LITTLE FOXES will be produced in full scale by the New York Theatre Workshop following a reading they presented earlier this year.

THE LITTLE FOXES focuses on Southern aristocrat Regina Hubbard Giddens, who struggles for wealth and freedom within the confines of an early 20th century society where a father considered only sons as legal heirs. As a result, her avaricious brothers Benjamin and Oscar are independently wealthy, while she must rely upon her sickly husband Horace for financial support.  This leads to an end of blackmail and intrigue.

Ivo van Hove began his career as a theatre director in his native Belgium in 1981 directing his own texts (Ziektekiemen, Geruchten, Wilde Heren). He served successively as artistic director of AKT, Akt-Vertikaal and De Tijd. From 1990 to 2000 he directed Zuidelijk Toneel. Since 2001 van Hove has been general director of Toneelgroep Amsterdam. In the 2006-2007 season he directed a trilogy consisting of Coriolanus, Julius Caesar and Anthony & Cleopatra by William Shakespeare with Toneelgroep Amsterdam. He is also the director of Der Ring des Nibelungen by Wagner with The Flemish Opera. In 2007-2008 van Hove directed The Misanthrope by Miliere with the New York Theatre Workshop, Angels in America by Tony Kushner with Toneelgroep Amsterdam, Kameliendame by Alexandre Dumas fils with Schauspielhaus Hamburg. Productions by van Hove have appeared at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Biennale in Venice, the Holland Festival and in cities such as Lisbon, Paris, Verona, Hanover, Porto and Rome.

Elizabeth Marvel began her acting career Off Broadway, where she won two Obie Awards, one for her performance in Misalliance and Therese Raquin and one for A Streetcar Named Desire. Her other Off Broadway credits include Lydie Breeze. On Broadway, she has appeared in An American Daughter, Taking Sides and The Seagull. Her television credits include guest appearances in the series Homicide: Life on the Street and New York Undercover and a role in the mini-series A Will of Their Own.

New York Theatre Workshop is one of the most well respected off-Broadway theatres in New York City, noted for its acclaimed and innovative productions - a workshop where artists create new work, hone their craft and collaboratively explore theatre. NYTW is committed to the development of innovative theatre by supporting theatre artists at all stages of their careers, providing an environment where work can be created free from the artistic compromise and forbidding financial demands often associated with commercial ventures. Over the past two decades, NYTW has evolved to become a significant force in New York City's vibrant cultural landscape, having spawned the initial productions of some of the city's most recognizable work including Rent.
