FIRSTBORN Heads To United Solo Theatre Festival From Portland, Oregon

Oregon-based writer/performer Gigi Rosenberg is taking her solo show, Firstborn, to New York City, as an official selection of the United Solo Theatre Festival.

Earlier versions of this show have been performed to rave reviews at Portland Story Theater, the Fertile Ground Festival of New Work and in the solo performance workshop at the Barrow Group Theatre in New York City taught by Seth Barrish who serves as dramaturg.

"After my parents died, I received a mysterious inheritance which seemed at odds with my very hippy-dippy, artsy family. So, I became a detective and traveled back to the memories of growing up in 1960s New York City to make sense of what had been left behind for me," she said. "While I was writing the story, I was asked by Portland Story Theater to perform and my stories were much funnier on the stage than on the page, which is how the solo show was born."
