Damiano, Somers Join 'Next to Normal' 2ST Musical

Second Stage Theatre has announced the complete cast for its upcoming musical, Next to Normal.  Adam Chandler-Berat, Jennifer Damiano, Asa Somers and Aaron Tveit will join the previously announced Alice Ripley and Brian D'Arcy James.

Next to Normal, featuring music by Tom Kitt, book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, and direction by two-time Tony nominee Michael Greif, will begin previews on January 16, 2008 and will officially open on February 13, 2008 at Second Stage Theatre (307 West 43rd street).  Tickets are currently on sale and may be purchased by calling the Second Stage Theatre Box Office at 212-246-4422 or online at

Next to Normal will feature musical direction by Mary Mitchell Campbell, orchestrations by Michael Starobin and Tom Kitt, and vocal arrangements by AnnMarie Milazzo.

"How does an almost average family navigate today's over-stimulated and over-medicated world?  In this darkly funny and haunting new musical, one suburban household confronts its past and its future.  With provocative lyrics and an electrifying score, Next to Normal explores how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their world intact," explain press notes.

Next to Normal will feature set design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Jeff Mahshie, lighting design by Kevin Adams and sound design by Brian Ronan.  Musical staging will be by Sergio Trujillo.
