BEDLAM has announced a five-week extension of its critically acclaimed production of Jane Austen's SENSE & SENSIBILITY, adapted for the stage by Kate Hamill. SENSE & SENSIBILITY opens Thursday, February 4, 2016, at 7pm, at THE GYM AT JUDSON (243 Thompson Street) and will now play through Sunday, April 10, 2016.

Directed by Eric Tucker and starring Laura Baranik, Jessica Frey, Kate Hamill, Edmund Lewis, Andrus Nichols, Jason O'Connell, John Russell, Samantha Steinmetz, Stephan Wolfert and Gabra Zackman, SENSE & SENSIBILITY has scenic design by John McDermott, lighting design by Les Dickert, costume design by Angela Huff and choreography by Alexandra Beller.

Reviewing Bedlam's 2014 production of SENSE & SENSIBILITY Ben Brantley from The New York Times exclaimed, "No troupe in New York these days rides the storytelling momentum of theater more resourcefully or enthusiastically than BEDLAM... high-octane Austen... Ms. Hamill and Mr. Tucker have sidestepped the problem by transposing Austen into the key of Dickens. Theirs is a bouncy, jaunty take on Austen, with a 10-member cast taking on an assortment of roles that are always clearly defined, sometimes as graphically as caricatures by the Dickens illustrator Phiz."

The Wall Street Journal's Terry Teachout raved, "BEDLAM is a band of gifted unknowns who can make theatrical magic in an empty room. That's what Bedlam is doing with SENSE & SENSIBILITY. No theater troupe in America is doing more creative classical revivals."

You've never seen Austen like this! BEDLAM's rollicking adaptation follows the adventures (and misadventures) of the Dashwood sisters - sensible Elinor and hypersensitive Marianne - after their sudden loss of fortune. Bursting with humor, emotion, and bold theatricality, SENSE & SENSIBILITY asks: when reputation is everything, how do you follow your heart?

Tickets range from $69 to $89, and are available at www.bedlam.org (866-811-4111). Pending availability, $25 student rush tickets will be sold at THE GYM AT JUDSON box office 15 minutes prior to the start of each performance. Students with a valid ID are limited to two rush tickets per ID.
