Algonquin Theater Productions is pleased to announce its Intimate Theater Season will begin with "LOL", written by Artistic Director Tony Sportiello and directed by Duane Boutte. Algonquin, which houses the hit Off Broadway musicals "Sessions" (230 performances and still running) and "An Evening at The Carlyle" ("the surprise hit of the summer Off Broadway Theater season..." - UPI) will use its 40 seat Parker Theater to showcase non-musical fare for the 2009 season.
"LOL" is the modern day Frankenstein story of life and love on the internet. She's aggressive, confident, sexual....through Karen, Danny slowly starts to discover what women truly want. The problem comes when Karen refuses to let go, forcing Danny to stay online for hours, days even weeks. A literal life and death struggle ensues between the two halves of Danny's personality, with everything on the line.Tony Sportiello (Playwright) is the author of "Second Chance", "The Grandfather Paradox", "Tickets, Please!", "Absent Friends", "The Valley of Fear", "The Bet" and others.
