'A Yorkshire Fairie Tale' Told Off-Bway 9/27
On The Leesh Productions, Inc. presents A Yorkshire Fairie Tale by Thomas H. Diggs, Off-Broadway at the Michael Weller Theatre, 311 West 43rd Street (6th Floor). Previews begin on Friday, September 27; opening Monday, October 1 at 8PM.
Inspired by the Cottingly Fairy Hoax, A Yorkshire Fairie Tale is directed by Nancy Robillard, and stars Jessica Arinella , Paul DeCordova, Matt Rashid, Peter Russo, Susan Wands. "A Yorkshire Fairie Tale is a coming-of-age story about Dulcie, a thirteen-year-old girl, who fakes photographs of fairies in order to save her relationship with her mother, which has been torn apart by the First World War. With the help of Francis, an eccentric male friend, Dulcie manages to create a series of photographs that not only cheer up her mother, but also entertain a nation. Dulcie's celebrity around the faked photos goes too far as her life becomes unbearable watching her mother go 'round the bend.' Dulcie decides to stop all talk of fairies, betray her eccentric cohort, and give up her celebrity status in order to preserve what's left of her family," state press notes.
Performances of are: Monday; Thursday; Friday & Saturday 8PM; Sunday 7:30PM and Sunday matinee at 2PM. There will be special performance Saturday September 29 at 2PM & no Sunday evening performance October 14.
