For one night only, Barter Theatre is taking "Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash" on the road to the most deserved venue in the country: The Carter Family Fold, tonight, August 27 at 7:30pm. Barter Theatre is excited to donate all proceeds from ticket sales to The Carter Family Fold.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through Barter Theatre's box office at (276) 628-3991 or bartertheatre.com.

The Carter Family-Sara, Maybelle and A.P. Carter-is known as the First Family of Country Music. Daughter of Maybelle Carter, June, married the legendary Johnny Cash in 1968.

Barter's current production, "Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash," pays tribute to Johnny and his relationship with June. Bringing this Barter production to The Fold was a perfect fit.

"Ever since 'Keep on the Sunny Side: The Story of the Original Carter Family' (2003), Barter has had a long standing relationship with the folks at The Fold, including the late Janette Carter and her daughter Rita Forrester. 'Ring of Fire' is a very appropriate connection. We welcome the opportunity to help The Fold raise funds. It's going to be a great show in an authentic venue," said Richard Rose, producing artistic director at Barter Theatre.

"Our missions are parallel in the fact that Barter and The Fold are dedicated to preserving Appalachian heritage and continuing to tell our unique stories; and like Barter, The Carter Family Fold and Johnny Cash are both certainly one-of-a-kind," added Rose.
