AUDITIONS: Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike
Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is a modern comedy by Christopher Durang that turns Chekhov on his head in a satirical and hysterical look at the lost opportunities and dashed dreams of three wacky siblings and their friends. We enter the lives of middle-aged brother and sister Vanya and Sonia who have never left their family home in Bucks County PA, where they muddle through every day bickering and complaining about their lost lives, while their movie-star sister, Masha, gallivants around the world. Order is disturbed when Masha suddenly swoops in with her 20-something boy toy, Spike, threatening to sell the house, causing upheavals which bring out rivalries, grievances, and lust. The housekeeper/soothsayer, Cassandra, and next-door neighbor, a young and lovely aspiring actress named Nina round out the cast.
Directed by Mary Arnault.
Production runs from October 4-21, 2018.
