NEXTGEN VOCAL COMPETITION (COLLEGE THROUGH AGE 25) - The American Pops Orchestra, Washington, DC US Non Equity Auditions

APO's NextGen Competition is a free vocal competition giving young vocalists the opportunity to compete for cash prizes, participate in Broadway masterclasses, and perform live with The American Pops Orchestra. Winners have performed nationally with APO on PBS and have gone on to work professionally on Broadway, TV, and more!

This year marks the 8th annual NextGen Competition!

The top 10 Finalists receive an all-expense paid trip to NYC to compete at Lincoln Center! 1st and 2nd place winners receive cash prizes ranging from $2,500 to $10,000, paid out on the day of the finals competition, and multiple paid performance opportunities with The American Pops Orchestra throughout the 2025 calendar year.

Guidelines:

• Submit a 32-bar cut of an American popular song (Broadway, Standard, Pop, Jazz, Gospel, etc.) written before 1970.
• You must submit a video of yourself singing (cell phone video, new video, clip from performance/recital). You may use existing recital/performance clips or self-tapes from the last 6 months. You may use an instrumental/karaoke track from YouTube or another source.
• Submit your résumé (1 page max).
• The competition is open to collegiate students & recent graduates aged 18-24. You do not have to be a music major to enter!
• Past winners are not eligible to participate.
