HOMEBOUND
An Original African Musical Theatre Production
African Broadway
African Broadway is casting 4 actor-singers for HOMEBOUND, an original musical theatre production exploring family, identity, belonging, and the meaning of home.
The story follows four people traveling to Lagos, each returning home for a deeply personal reason. As their journeys intersect, they confront questions of family, identity, relationships, and the parts of themselves they have left behind.
HOMEBOUND is designed as an intimate black-box musical, combining contemporary storytelling with African musical influences and emotionally driven original music.
CASTING

Lola is smart, independent, composed, observant, ambitious, stubborn, and emotionally private. She has lived in New York and has not been home in eleven years. After receiving a phone call from her mother, she decides to return to Lagos and confront a relationship and a past she has kept at a distance.
Strong acting and singing ability required. Emotional range, natural stage presence, and comfort with musical theatre. Yoruba language ability is a plus.
TOMI — Female, 20–25

Strong acting and singing ability required. Emotional range, natural stage presence, and comfort with musical theatre.
TUNDE — Male, 38–50

Strong acting and singing ability required. Excellent comedic timing, emotional range, stage presence, and comfort with musical theatre and Nigerian cultural references.
MAMA EFE — Female, 40+
Mama Efe is warm, wise, blunt, funny, intimidating when necessary, and deeply observant. She has been estranged from her older sister for eighteen years. When she learns that her sister is seriously ill, she decides it is time to return home and attempt to reconcile before it is too late.
