SYNOPSIS:
Beehive: The ‘60s Musical matches big voices with big hairdos. From Aretha Franklin to Janis Joplin, Beehive is a wailing musical tribute to the ladies who unmistakably left their mark on ‘60s music.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:
WANDA (18+) – Portrays Aretha Franklin. A strong actress as well as singer. She carries the bulk of the dialogue and narration throughout the revue. She is a leader - strong, powerful, and engaging. She must have the ability to interact comfortably with the audience. Sings: “Natural Woman,” “Walking In The Rain,” and others.
JASMINE (18+) - Portrays Diana Ross of the Supremes. Sings: One Fine Day, Where Did Our Love Go? Come See About Me, and others.
LAURA (18+) - Portrays Janis Joplin and Lulu. Sings: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, “To Sir, With Love,” Try, Me and Bobby McGee, and others.
ALLISON (18+) – Sings: Where the Boys Are, My Boyfriend’s Back,” Somebody To Love,” and others.
PATTIE (18+) - Sings: It's My Party, Son Of A Preacher Man, and others;
GINA (18+) - Portrays Tina Turner, and the lead singer of the Starlets. Sings: I Sold My Heart to a Junkman, Proud Mary,” and others.
Please prepare a 30-second to one-minute piece of a 60’s-girl-group style song, either from the show, from musical theatre repertoire, or any other style-appropriate song from the time. There will be a brief dance audition.
