MRT Hosts Young Actor Auditions for

A Christmas Carol

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) will host auditions for young actors between the ages of eight and 16 for A Christmas Carol on August 1 in Lowell; August 6 in Nashua; and August 8 in Concord, MA, according to Nancy L. Donahue Artistic Director Courtney Sale. MRT will present this world premiere production of A Christmas Carol, adapted and directed by Sale, from November 30 to December 24, 2022.

Students will need to prepare a one-minute monologue, poem, or story, and bring a recent picture and short resume to the audition. Students will be called in groups of 12 for a one-hour group audition. Sale said the audition is meant to be a fun, supportive, and collaborative workshop. Children of all cultures and ethnicities are highly encouraged to audition. Students must be fully vaccinated to participate.

Auditions will be at MRT’s rehearsal hall from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 1, at 132 Warren Street, Lowell; Peacock Players at Janice Street Theatre from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, at 14 Court Street, Nashua; and Umbrella Stage Company’s Black Box Theatre from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on August 8 at 40 Stow Street, Concord, MA. Callbacks will be at 5:30 p.m. on August 15 in Lowell.

A Christmas Carol will begin rehearsals on Thursday, November 3, and tech days will be from November 26- 29 with an adjusted schedule for young actors. The first preview performance will be November 30, and the show opens December 3 (rehearsals end). All performances will be at MRT’s Liberty Hall at 50 East Merrimack St., Lowell, MA. The show closes December 24.
