Bryan Batt, Patricia Clarkson, Set for LOVE LETTERS at Le Petit Theatre

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced The Old Globe's presentation of a developmental workshop of Allegiance - A New American Musical. Created by Jay Kuo (music, lyrics and book) and Lorenzo Thione (book), the original musical tells the story of a Japanese American family forced into an internment camp during World War II. Directed by Stafford Arima (Altar Boyz, West End premiere of Ragtime) with musical direction and arrangements by Lynne Shankel (Cry-Baby, Company) and choreography by Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), the industry-only workshop will take place in New York City on July 27 and 28. Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Misérables), television and film icon George Takei ('Star Trek,' 'Heroes') and Telly Leung ('Glee,' Rent) have all participated in past workshops and are expected to return to their roles in July. The creative team includes Donyale Werle (scenic design) and David Zinn (costume design).

Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS) is honored to host the 2011 Louisiana American Association of Community Theatres Fest (AACT/Fest) Friday-Saturday, February 18-19, 2011 at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre, 177 Sala Ave in Westwego, Louisiana. The two-day festival will showcase seven short performances from theatre groups throughout the state of Louisiana. The showcase is also an adjudicated competition where the winning two presentations will have the opportunity to compete regionally and nationally. Tickets to the performance sessions held February 18 and 19 at 2PM each day for the general public is $15 per session and will be sold at the door February 18-19, 2011 at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre. Performance sessions consist of 3-4 60minute performances with adjudication/judges feedback immediately following. Day passes and full festival passes that include workshops and more are $35-65 and will be sold at the the theatre starting at 8AM on February 18 & 19. JPAS' Summer Youth Musical Theatre Intensive Program provides a challenging and high-quality musical theatre education to students of the Greater New Orleans area. The students at the summer theatre programs are challenged, encouraged and enriched through the art of theatre. JPAS Summer Youth Musical Theatre welcomes kids and teens in grades 3-12 each summer. Registration fills very quickly! Individual attention and fun is the goal, so space is limited.
