Philippe Entremont, H'83, internationally renowned pianist and conductor, is well-known throughout New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region for his exceptional career and his time spent as music director of the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra from 1980 to 1986. On Friday, Dec. 7, the maestro returns to New Orleans to perform the "Triple Concerto," one of Beethoven's most celebrated compositions, at Loyola University New Orleans.

LES MISERABLES is one of the most beloved stories by theatre fans all around the globe. Based on the book by Victor Hugo, it tells the story of one man's fight for redemption and touches on the universal themes of forgiveness, love, and loyalty. Jason Forbach plays Enjolras in the current U.S. Tour cast. Originally from Kansas, Jason grew up playing music and later went on to earn a Master of Arts in vocal performance. He finally realized his passion for musical theatre and moved to New York to pursue the dream. Jason was kind enough to answer some questions about his experiences defending the barricades.

Southern Rep Theatre continues its 26th Season with the second production of its Lagniappe Series, WOLVES by Steve Yockey, directed by Producing Artistic Director Aimée Hayes, and performed at The Den of Muses, a New Orleans Fringe Festival-managed venue. WOLVES is a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere and will also premiere this year at Actor's Express in Atlanta, GA; Stray Cat Theatre in Tempe, AZ; and at Celebration Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. The performance runs from November 14-18, 2012 with various run times at the Den of Muses (Nov. 14: 7pm, Nov. 16: 11pm, Nov 17: 9pm, Nov. 18: 5pm) and for an extended run November 23-25 at the Shadowbox Theatre (All performances: 8pm). WOLVES features Andrew Farrier, Taylor McClellan, Ben Carbo, and Big Easy Award-winner Kerry Cahill.

East Jefferson General Hospital Broadway in New Orleans and producers Thomas Schumacher of Disney Theatrical Productions and Cameron Mackintosh announced today that tickets for the long-awaited production of MARY POPPINS will go on sale to the public Friday, October 5 at 11 a.m. New Orleans' most eagerly awaited stage production will begin performances at the Mahalia Jackson Theater on December 18 for a limited 6-night engagement through December 23.

BWW Interviews: STOMP's Andres Fernandez; Show Comes to New Orleans, 9/14

STOMP is a show unlike any other in the theatrical world. It features a cast of multi-talented performers from a variety of backgrounds, who use everyday objects such as brooms, paint cans, drumsticks, bins, and even tractor tire inner tubes to create music. I recently had the opportunity to speak with cast member Andres Fernandez. Mr. Fernandez, originally from Hawaii, has backgrounds in music and dance. In high school he played trombone, and later went on tour throughout Hawaii singing and dancing with his brother. He has now been a part of the STOMP cast for 15 years.
