Continuing its mission to promote the development, production, and continued life of new plays in New Orleans, Southern Rep Theatre is announcing a new slate of 3X3: THE ONE ACTS, featuring plays by Jon Broder, Brian Sands and Lisa Shattuck.

"We are so proud of our history of producing innovative work, and 3X3 is a wonderful part of that effort," says Southern Rep Theatre Producing Artistic Director Aimée Hayes. "Our goal with the program is to provide a platform that will showcase emerging New Orleans playwrights. We want to inspire them creatively, and encourage them to pursue their ambitions. We're thrilled to share their latest work with the New Orleans community!"

3X3: THE ONE ACTS will be performed at 7:30pm on October 20th and 21st at Mid-City Theatre - 3540 Toulouse Street. The plays featured will include JESS'S GIRL by Jon Broder, BANG! OR 23 WAYS THE WORLD MIGHT HAVE BEGUN by Brian Sands, and SUTURE SELF by Lisa Shattuck.

"Seeing those words I type out on a blank screen come to life is an absolute thrill. And being given that opportunity with such regularity is priceless," said local playwright Brian Sands.

THE PLAYS:

JESS'S GIRL

By Jon Broder

Directed by Frank McCove

A stripper, her lesbian roommate, and the man they've brought home to rob. What could possibly go wrong?

BANG! OR 23 WAYS THE WORLD MIGHT HAVE BEGUN

By Brian Sands

Directed by Andrew Larimer

A rapid-fire series of scenes - some serious, most comic - that put forth some proposals about what happened before the Big Bang!

SUTURE SELF

By Lisa Shattuck

Directed by Jen Davis

SUTURE SELF is about a woman who realizes that she has been raised in a wounded environment when her sudden brother shows up at the Goofy Golf.

3X3: THE ONE ACTS will be presented at Mid-City Theatre, 3540 Toulouse Ave., New Orleans, LA, Monday, October 20th and Tuesday, October 21st at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10 at the door.

About 3X3: THE ONE ACTS - Southern Rep's 3X3: THE ONE ACTS is a quarter-annual showcase that gives "graduates" of the 6x6 program a chance to take the play-slam format further. 3X3 playwrights are given three months to write a one act play that then receive workshop productions.
